The Regenerative Fashion Hub comes to London Design Festival 2024 as part of an exhibition of Royal College of Art research and innovation projects.

This exhibition brings together new research and innovation projects from across the RCA that focus on materials developments, climate action and the integration of artificial intelligence with design to drive innovation and sustainability.

These interdisciplinary art and design-led are leading the way to a future in which design and technology can work together to create a more equitable and sustainable society.

14-22 September | Opening hours vary – see detailed timings

200 Battersea Park Road, London SW11 4ND

Included in the exhibition are:

Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design

Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design (AiDLab) is the first research platform that focuses on the integration of Artificial Intelligence AI with design. It was jointly established by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the RCA, and is funded by the HKSAR Government under the InnoHK Research Clusters.

AiDLab is in a uniquely leading position to conduct interdisciplinary research that drives innovation and sustainability, and makes a positive impact on both industry and society.

AiDLab brings together a diverse mix of leading researchers and practitioners from its founding institutions to conduct research in two thematic programmes: Ergonomic and Inclusive Design, and Intelligent Fashion Design and Quality Control.

Ecological Citizen(s)

Ecological Citizen(s) is a 4 year Network+ based at the RCA in collaboration with University of York’s Stockholm Environment Institute and Wrexham University, with a mission to catalyse Ecological Citizenship for positive climate action. The Network is made up of a transdisciplinary team working across design, citizen-science, activism, technology and engineering.

The ecological and climate crisis are the two biggest challenges facing humanity, however there are numerous digital opportunities to mitigate the impacts. Ecological Citizen(s) will mobilise diverse groups of people to make impactful change through accessible technology and community-focused approaches.

Textiles Circularity Centre

The Textiles Circularity Centre (TCC) is a UKRI funded programme that aims to enable the transition to a circular textiles economy through an interdisciplinary approach to research. It combines research into circular supply chains, biomaterials innovation and consumer experience to envision a circular future for the fashion-textiles industry.

Comprising researchers and academics with expertise spanning human-centred design, materials design and science, cognitive neuroscience, sensory interaction design and manufacture, the TCC undertakes research with the aim of turning post-consumer textiles, crop residues and household waste into renewable materials to produce high value textiles and consumer experiences.
