The Regenerative Fashion Hub opens at Rich Mix
Explore the future of sustainable fashion and textiles 23 February - 21 March 2024
The TCC Configurator is conceptualised as a set of future (digital and non-digital) shop-based services and experiences that will allow consumers to learn more about the materials that make their clothes, enable them to contribute to how their clothes are designed, and access support to care for and repair their clothes.
The TCC Configurator is conceptualised as a set of future (digital and non-digital) shop-based services and experiences that will allow consumers to learn more about the materials that make their clothes, enable them to contribute to how their clothes are designed, and access support to care for and repair their clothes.
You are invited to participate in this study because we would like your feedback on what types of in-store experiences might be important for supporting consumers to be actively involved in a circular textile economy. Your participation and feedback will help us shape the design of our Configurator.
The first activity is called the ‘Materials gym’. In this activity, we will introduce you to a display of the TCC’s shirt component parts and to four scenarios for making a shirt. In order to encourage you to generate material knowledge, you will be prompted to interact with the materials in specific ways to explore the textiles: flexibility-rigidity, softness-hardness, smoothness-hardness, coolness-warmness. A worksheet will be used to help you reflect and record your findings. At the end of this activity, you will reach a final material selection for your shirt.
If you agree, we will also collect data using EMG bracelets to further understand your interaction with materials; with the speed and aspects of movement that reveal information about your experience.
The second activity is called the ‘Shirt Builder’. Using the shirt components, instructions, and relying on support from the TCC team where needed, you will be invited to configure your circular shirt. At the end of the process, you will have the option to photograph your creation, which can be included as part of a display in the space. After building your shirt, you will participate in an activity to investigate the level of effort you are willing to exert to get more configuration and reconfiguration (update, upgrade, repair) options in comparison to exerting less effort and getting a garment that has no configuration options.
If you have any learning needs or requirements, please let us know in advance so we can do our best to meet these.
The activities will take place over 1 hour and 45 minutes. These activities will take place in the TCC Regenerative Fashion Hub at The Lab E20 (3-4 East Park Walk, Stratford, London E20 1J).
