Repair and Renew Workshop Study

Would you like to learn about repairing your clothes? We are looking for people to take part in a workshop study to understand people’s clothing repair practices as part of a research project, in order to design tools that will support people to undertake their own repairs. If you are interested in participating, please bring a damaged garment to the workshop; we will assess the damage with help from a repair specialist, who will also suggest a repair solution. The workshop is an opportunity for you to study the materials in your clothes, and to find the most appropriate technique for mending your garment. We will also document damage and repair solutions to contribute to the creation of a citizen-led Clothing Care catalogue.

TO BRING:
A damaged garment that you’d like to repair. The choice of garment is open although we are particularly interested in denim items and shirts.

FILMING:
Please be aware that we will be filming some of the activities for our research studies and you may be identified in the film. The film is for research purposes, and we will ask for your permission if we want to use it in dissemination of our research results.

If you have any learning needs or requirements, please let us know in advance so we can do our best to meet these.

The workshops will be facilitated by Dr. Lucie Hernandez and Barley Massey from Fabrications.

When: Friday 4th or Monday 14th of November 2022: 13:30-17:00 (3 hours 30 minutes)

Where:  TCC Regenerative Fashion Hub at The Lab E20 (3-4 East Park Walk, Stratford, London E20 1J).
