Materials Gym: a participatory workshop on how to feel and move with materials

This workshop explores how we handle, feel, and move with the materials that our clothes are made from. Join us for a fun participatory workshop, which includes taking part in a materials ‘gym’ class on techniques for feeling and understanding materials, and activities for reflecting on how and why our clothes make us feel the way we do. We invite you to bring two items of clothing with you to the workshop: one item that makes you feel ‘great’ in some way, e.g. confident, free, elegant, glamorous; and another that makes you feel less good, e.g. constricted, embarrassed, awkward, sweaty, or something else.

Your feedback will help us develop digital tools (such as chatbots and ‘magic mirrors’) that will help people reflect on their experiences of materials and clothing.

You will be able to select from a range of our Circular Economy iron-on patches to take away in return for taking part.

If you have any learning needs or requirements, please let us know in advance so we can do our best to meet these.

When: Tuesday 15th November 2022, 14:00-16:30 (2 hours 30 minutes)

Where: Held at The Regenerative Fashion Hub at The Lab E20 (3-4 East Park Walk, Stratford, London E20 1J)
